This free showcase is an opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of early language, see practice in action, reflect on your own practice and develop an action plan for improvement.

Ask a Literacy Specialist - Online Session Available18Nov2025

3:30 pm - 5:30 pm @ Online

We host regular virtual calls with our Literacy Specialists. These free sessions are perfect for you if: You want guidance on early language development strategies; You have questions about implementing an age-appropriate phonics programme; You'd like tips on promoting a love of reading in your classroom. Each session lasts 20 minutes, with the option to book a double slot for more in-depth discussions.

Supporting Early Language Development - Session 1 and Session 219Nov2025

This is a six-session programme delivered over three days. The programme has been developed by a group of English Hubs with support from ICAN, the children’s communication charity.

Writing Framework Showcase20Nov2025

8:30 am - 3:00 pm @ Burley Woodhead Primary LS29 7RQ

The free showcase supports senior leaders and classroom teachers, by introducing a clear, research-informed approach to teaching writing. It highlights effective practices for building writing stamina, vocabulary, and sentence structure across all key stages. Attendees gain insight into curriculum progression, assessment, and how to support children in developing a writer’s voice. The showcase encourages whole-school consistency and supports leaders in driving writing improvement with confidence. There will also be the opportunity to see practice in action, reflect on your own practice and develop an action plan for improvement.

Reading For Pleasure - TSRC - Session 124Nov2025

9:15 am - 3:00 pm @ Steeton Primary School, BD20 6NN

The TSRC programme is a sustained, research based CPD programme aimed at primary English Leads. During the course of the programme participants will engage deeply with reading for pleasure pedagogy and leadership theory to transform their school’s reading culture. Participants will attend 3 full day sessions and complete gap tasks in between sessions.

Selected by the DfE in 2018, Burley Woodhead English Hub is one of just 34 schools across England. We work in partnership with schools in Bradford, Craven, Richmondshire and Hambleton to promote a love of reading and excellent teaching of early language and systematic synthetic phonics.
