A series of 5 short online workshops to help Phonic Leads develop phonic practice and early reading in their school.

Early Language Development Training
We are delighted to be delivering the English Hub Early Language Training Programme in 2023-24. The Early Language Training Programme is a six-session programme and delivered over three terms. The programme has been developed by a group of English Hubs with support from ICAN, the children’s communication charity. It will enable participants to gain an understanding of ‘typical’ language development, help teachers to identify children who may not be developing language skills as expected and provide practical classroom skills and techniques for quality first teaching in Reception and Key Stage One.
Sessions will be held in person at Newby Primary School, BD5 7DQ and virtually on the following dates:
Session 1 Monday 25th September 2023 9.30am-12.30pm
Session 2 Monday 4th December 2023 9.30am-12.30pm
Session 3 Monday 22nd January 2024 9.30am-12.30pm
Session 4 Monday 4th March 2024 9.30am-12.30pm
Session 5 Monday 29th April 2024 9.30am-12.30pm
Session 6 Monday 17th June 2024 9.30am-12.30pm

These FREE showcase events are an opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of the Reading Framework, see practice in action, reflect on your own practice and develop an action plan for improvement.

Do you want to develop reading fluency in your school?
Then join us and Kelly Ashley as we explore what reading fluency is, strategies for the classroom and how assessment can be used to inform our knowldege of pupil's reading fluency needs.
Kelly Ashley is a professional developments facilitator, author of Word Power and university lecturer. She is a specialist in the primary English curriculum with particular interests in reading for pleasure and vocabulary development. Kelly has previously supported the Burley Woodhead English Hub summer conference and we are excited to welcome her back to deliver reading fluency training to schools.
